Authors of publications will have the opportunity to challenge the blocking of materials.
The Tumblr service on December 17th will block all “adult” content. A message about this appeared on the company’s website.
“it became clear that without this content we have the opportunity to create a place where more people feel comfortable expressing themselves,” the developers say.
The service listed the content for which the ban does not apply: it is artistic, educational, informational and political materials. Photos, videos and GIFs with the genitals of real people, female nipples and scenes of sexual acts, as well as photorealistic content will be banned. At the same time, it is allowed to post materials that show breastfeeding, childbirth or postpartum moments.
Content “for adults” will be found using special algorithms. Such publications will be closed to other users, and those who posted them will receive a notification by email.
The Tumblr app for unknown reasons disappeared from the App Store on November 16th. As it turned out a few days later, it was removed because of the detected child pornography. Prior to that, adult content was allowed in Tumblr (for example, foul language and porn).
