Japanese billionaire Yusaku Maezawa broke the record for the number of retweets, promising a cash reward to a hundred random Twitter followers. In total, he is going to distribute a million yen, which is equivalent to about 10 thousand dollars for each winner.

There are only two conditions for participation–to be subscribed to the Maezawa account and retweet his cash distribution tweet. The billionaire promised that he would write personal messages to the winners.

In two days, the record was retweeted more than five million times, and the number of Japanese subscribers increased from 501,000 to 5.7 million.

Maezawa got into the world news in September 2018, when it became known that he convinced Elon Musk to send him on a journey around the Moon on the SpaceX ship.

The previous record of retweets belonged to teenager Carter Wilkerson, who was retweeted over 3.4 million times. He argued with Wendy’s fast food chain that he would have 18 million retweets, and although the final number of reposts was several times smaller, the network still agreed to provide him with nuggets for life.
