In the Tierpark Zoo in Berlin, animals received unsold Christmas trees as treats. The elephants got young coniferous trees, put up trees with “decorations” from vegetables in the aviary, and tigers with meat.

The zoo accepts only fresh trees from trusted suppliers, while in the zoo they ensure that the trees brought before have not been decorated–otherwise they may contain residues of toys and chemicals.
